The show's gone to pot, again...

With all the recent media attention to cannabis, I thought I'd get on the bandwagon and make it the subject of tonight's show. There is little doubt that all this increased attention to the use of cannabis, both medicinally and recreationally, has exposed more of the other side of the cannabis story - something long overdue. But I believe it's far too early to break out the cigars and champagne. In fact, we need to step back and look anew at how best to manage this attention. And in doing so, we must examine whether the incremental approach to policy reform is the best strategy going forward. There is a reasonable argument to be made that reform's reliance on the incremental approach will backfire, one that I'll try to make tonight.

And law enforcement agencies across the land have one again provided profiles of bad apples within their ranks, contributing to our segment titled Cops on Drugs. Emails tell us it's a favorite among listeners, and we're glad that's the case - but remained outraged such corruption is continually ignored by the Obama administration. Obama could use a clear winner - what with his recent battering over cap and trade and healthcare - and making common cause with cannabis reform would provide one.
