The pee-pee at MPP

Several publications, including HighTimes and The Washington Post, have reported on the sexcapades of Rob Kampia over at the Marijuana Policy Project (MPP). It seems, according to current and former MPP staffers, Rob Kampia, the co-founder and Executive Director of MPP, has used the organization as his personal harem. Back in August Rob had, what everyone agrees to be true, consensual sex with a subordinate. It occurred after a MPP after-hours get together at a local D.C. watering hole.

our blue moon

As many of you may know, I attended the Mushroom Ball on New Year's Eve. I had a wonderful time, tripping the light fantastic. It was also the last time in our lifetime we'll witness a blue moon on New Year's Eve, and the odds of it happening again at the turn of a decade are virtually impossible to calculate. So it was something special to behold. I don't know how it looked from where you were, but down here in SW Florida it was absolutely stunning.

the war inside the war against the war on drugs

Pete Guither writes one of the best drug policy reform blogs out there: DrugWarRant.com On December 10th, Pete ran a piece titled, "Another poll." And it generated a shit-load of comments, many of them heated and accusatory. They pitted the incrementalists, those defending the go-slow status quo in drug policy reform, exemplified by medical marijuana, against those advocating the repeal of all drug prohibitions. It was quite the deal, if not quite a hissy fit.

the needle and the damage done...

The joint House and Senate 2010 appropriations bill contains language that removes the federal ban on funding needle-exchange programs. Of course, it still could be changed. But if it does not, it will be a significant step forward in reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS among IV-drug users. One pilot program experienced reductions as high as 80%. So we can expect similar results should programs expand to all states.

Let's get ready to rumble

Despite Drug Czar Gil Kerlipigski's claim to have ended the drug war - yes, he really did say it - the drug war continues unabated. And Obama is on track to oversee a record number of arrests. Yet leaders in drug policy reform continue to cozy up to politicians in an endlessly vain attempt to curry favor for our positions. But it is those same politicians that, just like Tuesday follows Monday, continue to support laws and policies that keep the drug business in the hands of criminal cartels and crazies. Fuck cozying up to these pricks.
